India is the world's largest country by working-age population. Over 500 million active workers, tens of millions of whom have international work experience — in the Gulf states, Malaysia, and Singapore. For Ukrainian employers this translates into a wide selection of candidates across most production and construction roles.
Asia Work has been recruiting from India since 2024. Our database holds over 3,000 verified candidates with current documents and confirmed track records.

Top roles from India for Ukrainian employers
Construction Workers and General Labourers
The largest category. Indian construction workers have experience on major projects in the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait — where quality standards and work pace are exceptionally demanding. Common profiles: bricklayers, plasterers, roofers, assembly workers, general labourers.
MIG/MAG Welders
A smaller pool than Vietnam, but solid qualification levels for general manufacturing and construction-related metalwork. For precision engineering, we recommend considering Vietnam.
Warehouse and Logistics Operators
Experience at modern distribution centres across the Middle East. Familiar with forklifts, WMS systems, and barcode workflows. Good fit for large distribution hubs.
Agricultural Workers
Harvest collection, greenhouse work, livestock farms. Physical endurance and experience with seasonal labour are strong suits for Indian candidates in the agri sector.
Packers and Line Operators
Experience at food and industrial production facilities. Consistent pace and attention to detail make them a reliable choice for conveyor and packaging lines.
What Indian workers are like
Most Indian candidates have solid educational backgrounds and prior international work experience. They are characterised by strong work ethic and discipline, willingness to commit to longer-term contracts, and relatively fast adaptation to new environments. One- to two-year contracts are the norm — the majority have already done similar rotation-based work in the Gulf.
One important note: Indian workers take contract terms seriously on both sides. Accommodation conditions, meals, and timely pay — when these are delivered, turnover is minimal.
Language and communication
Most candidates from India have basic to intermediate English, which simplifies communication compared to most other Asian source countries. Basic technical instructions and work orders become manageable without a translator within 2–3 months.
Asia Work provides a Hindi-speaking coordinator for the first month of work.
Document processing: India specifics
Work Permit
Standard procedure through Ukraine's State Employment Service. Processing time: 15–20 business days. For Indian candidates, it is important to draft the employment contract and job description carefully — the Service checks that the role matches the candidate's qualifications.
D Visa (category D-03)
Ukrainian consulates in India are in New Delhi and Mumbai. Appointment wait time is 2–3 weeks, review period 10–15 days after submission. This is a longer cycle than Vietnam due to higher application volumes.
One important detail: certain Indian states require an additional exit clearance for lower-skilled workers — known as an ECR passport (Emigration Check Required). Asia Work verifies passport status during candidate screening.
Total timeline
50–70 calendar days from contract signing to first working day — slightly longer than Vietnam due to consulate queues.
Vietnam vs India: which one to choose?
A question we hear often from clients:
| Criteria | India | Vietnam |
|---|---|---|
| Welders | Good | Excellent |
| Construction and assembly | Excellent | Good |
| Agriculture | Excellent | Good |
| Warehouse and logistics | Excellent | Good |
| Processing timeline | 50–70 days | 45–60 days |
| English proficiency | Basic to intermediate | Minimal |
| Recruitment cost | Comparable | Comparable |
In short: for manufacturing with tight welding requirements — Vietnam. For construction, agriculture, and warehousing at scale — India offers a larger candidate pool.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a cap on how many Indian workers a company can hire?
Yes. Ukrainian law limits the share of foreign workers to 50% of total headcount. Under the Industrial EOR model this restriction does not apply to you — Asia Work is the legal employer, not your company.
How do you verify skills before candidates travel?
Asia Work runs video skill assessments for technical roles — welding, equipment operation, assembly. The candidate performs a task on camera and our technical specialist evaluates the result. This is standard for all placements.
Can Indian workers be hired through Industrial EOR?
Yes, and it is the recommended model for most production facilities. We are the official employer of record, taking on all migration compliance and HR administration.
What happens if a worker does not work out after arrival?
Asia Work provides a 3-month replacement guarantee. If a candidate does not meet the agreed requirements within that period, we source and process a replacement at no additional cost.
Can Indian workers bring their families to Ukraine?
A D visa is issued for the worker only. Family reunification is a separate procedure requiring stable income and extended residency. In practice, the majority of candidates travel alone for 1–2 years and return home on leave.
